...I'm not really one for the holidays, but it was a tradition once I moved here to celebrate this one.

Not that there's a whole lot to celebrate at this point, but tradition matters. It's important... more than some people like to think. It's worth upholding.

Does anyone know where to find a good Christmas tree? A lot for real ones, or a good store to buy a decent looking fake one? I need new decorations, too. Moving around so much has jostled around the old ones a bit too much. They aren't in the best condition anymore. Calling them antiques might be an understatement...

Two months, and nothing to show for it. I should have known those leads would go nowhere... tch.

...Do I even still have a job here? I know I left rather abruptly without saying much of anything to anyone. If I'm fired, I'm not surprised.

...Finally, electricity. I was beginning to wonder when it'd kick back in for our building, tch. I was getting sick and tired of having to order take-out, though I don't think my roommate has minded.

I swear, he's addicted to Chinese.

That earthquake was something else... I haven't been filled in entirely. What areas took the most damage? Maes, you know?

...And. This might seem strange, but... I heard Emil got out of the hospital. I stopped by the apartment, but it doesn't look like anyone was even home. Anyone know where the kid's staying?

...I guess this kind of shit is meant to eat away at you.

Work should help to get my mind off of things at least for a little while.

Back from vacation. It was nice while it lasted.

I'm not really sure why, but there for a while I was really considering switching departments. It seems things are starting to slide back into place, however... I guess waiting it out and being patient with the decision paid off.

I like the field work I've got... and frankly, I'm lucky that I even get to see half of the stuff that I see. I guess I'm one of those young cops you hear about now and then that got a lucky break, hn?

Anyways... Kurenai, you've been meaning to have a little chat with me. We can do it tonight, okay? I'll stop by your place if you're not too busy. Maybe it'll finally get you off my back, tch.

I should be back in town around August 2 or 3 for those that were wondering. Kurenai, I'm looking at you.

Sorry for my abrupt disappearance, I took some much needed vacation time...

Maybe someone can fill me in on what I missed when I get back, but for now... I think I'm just going to continue enjoying being out of the city. It's gotten my mind off of a lot of things. I think I'll come back with a clearer head.

I suppose this time around the day didn't go too poorly. It's a first. Karasu, Kurenai... I have the both of you to thank for that. You too, Emil, it was a nice surprise to see that you stopped by, and that picture is going to stay right beside my bed.

The basket of fresh tomatoes, and a morning full of pampering. It sounds like something a farmer would get, but all in all I'm satisfied. It's more than what a lot of others can say for themselves, I'd imagine. I am glad I don't have a lot of expectations for when my birthday rolls around; I never really have to worry about being let down anymore.

Didn't see him. Didn't expect to, either.

I think that's part of what made the day so enjoyable.

The fireworks were okay... I was on duty, of course, so I was watching more civilians than I was the show in the sky.
